How to create an invoice in 4 steps
- Add your details. Enter your business name, address and contact info, and upload your logo if you have one. InvoiceMaple remembers these on your device so next time they are already filled in.
- Add your client. Type who you are billing. A name and an email address is usually enough; add a postal address if your client needs it for their records.
- List what you did. Add one line per product or service with a quantity and a rate. Totals, tax and discounts are calculated for you.
- Download the PDF. Click the download button and send the file to your client by email or any messaging app.
What should an invoice include?
A clear invoice gets paid faster. Most clients and accountants expect to see:
- The word “Invoice” and a unique invoice number (InvoiceMaple numbers them for you: INV-0001, INV-0002…)
- Your business name and contact details, and your client’s name
- The invoice date and the due date
- An itemized list of products or services with quantities, rates and amounts
- Subtotal, any tax or discount, and the total amount due
- How to pay you: bank transfer details, PayPal, card link, etc.
Some countries also require a tax or VAT registration number on invoices. If that applies to you, add it to your details box so it prints on every invoice.
